Around 500 May be Dead in the Wake of Typhoon Durian

Typhoon Durian, named after an odorous thorny fruit, slammed into the Philippines Thursday. Durian was a category 4 typhoon, one level below a super-typhoon, with winds up to 190 kph and gusts up to 225 kph (140 mph).
